FISH MONTANA WITH JEFF WAGNER AND JIM DOWNES 2013 Cane Rod Week in Montana
Jeff and I are going to be at Upper Canyon Outfitters again this September. Come on out and fish the Ruby River with cane rods. Donna at Upper Canyon Outfitters has a nice package put together including 2 ½ days guided and a backdoor tour of the Sweet Grass Rod Shop, September 1 thru 7, for $2250.
We are also adding a new twist!
People attending will be offered the option of finishing their own cane rod! Noted Rodmaker Jeff Wagner and I have developed a syllabus for the rodcrafting course, which will involve 1-2 hours each evening finishing out your choice of a 6'9" 3 wt or a 7'6" 4-5 wt. cane rod blank. So, for only an additional $600, you can finish out your own cane rod and be using it on the gorgeous Ruby River by the end of the week! You'll have a memorable week, and your own cane rod to bring you a lifetime of additional enjoyment. The class fee includes all rod components, bag, case, materials and tuition.
I can personally attest to the lodge: everything about it is incredible. The owners, guides, food, surroundings and fishing are fantastic. The Ruby alone offers an angler the chance to catch 6 species: Rainbows, Browns, Brookies, Cuts, Cutbows and Grayling. In addition, the lodge has access to some very prime private water as well as the wealth of public water in the area.
Contact Donna McDonald at email@example.com for reservations. Be there, or be square! I can't wait.....

Rods are identified by the first 4 numbers. The 6010 is a 6’-0” rod with a #10 ferrule and so on. There is no relationship to the Dickerson tapers.
All rods are flamed to a medium brown and fitted with nickel-silver reel
seat hardware and ferrules. I use an agate stripping guide and black
snake guides and tip tops. Guides are wrapped with 2/0 silk and tipped with 4/0
Blued hardware is no extra charge. And all rods come in a brass capped
aluminum tube with a rod sack and hang tag.
Rods are guaranteed against defects in workmanship for life and carry an
unconditional guarantee for one year from the purchase date. After that,
repairs are quoted before they are made. If you slam it in a car door I can fix
it but you will be responsible for all costs.
